Description
Ezulwini roams a large territory of the Greater Kruger conservation area, traversing between the Kruger National Park and a network of private reserves, opened up by private landowners in collaboration with the Kruger National Park, in order to create extra sanctuary for animals to roam. Ezulwini often makes large treks between reserves, a direct benefactor of the efforts of so many who opened these expanses and continue to protect them. Here he is pictured at the foot of the area’s iconic upper reaches of the Drakensberg Mountains, being an icon of the area himself and a local treasure. He is estimated at around 45 years old, born when the area he is standing in here was still a cattle farm which was restored to wilderness when he would have been a young teenager.
This moment for me captures the success of so many who came together to restore our natural heritage.
