Locking eyes with a wild gorilla and not merely looking at each other, but actually seeing and acknowledging each other, is surely the most moving wildlife experience one can have. I’d venture at saying it’s more than a wildlife experience, it’s an emotional and almost human experience. This young guy walked right up to me and although still built like a spider monkey, beat his chest with the confidence of a silverback, tried to sneakily grab my camera like a naughty schoolboy and then marched back into the undergowth.
