Description
Three cheetah sub adult cubs, led by their mom marched out of a shadowy thicket of trees in Phinda Private Game Reserve, South Africa to reveal themselves to the sun and a herd of antelope in the distance. Two of the cubs sat together in the fading light watching the surrounding antelope announcing the cheetahs’ presence in a cacophony of alarm calls. Phinda is renowned for some of the best cheetah sightings in Southern Africa. Cheetahs were reintroduced to this land in 1992 and such is the success of their population in Phinda that some of this population is regularly used to seed the start of new cheetah programs elsewhere. This mom represents the success of this magnificent reintroduction program as she raises the next generation in this reclaimed wild habitat.
