Description
This cheetah mom marched out of a shadowy thicket of trees with her 3 sub adult cubs in Phinda Private Game Reserve, South Africa. This family sat out in the open to soak up the last rays of winter sun, with the surrounding antelope announcing their presence with a series of alarm calls. Here mom watched her cubs attentively as they approached. Phinda is renowned for some of the best cheetah sightings in Southern Africa. Cheetahs were reintroduced to this land in 1992 and such is the success of their population in Phinda that some of this population is regularly used to seed the start of new cheetah programs elsewhere. This mom represents the success of this magnificent reintroduction program as she raises the next generation in this reclaimed wild habitat.
