I’ve often asked and been told that leopards don’t have a favourite tree and that there’s no conclusive findings to support this. All I know is this leopard lay on this same branch of this same tree fairly often.
Sometimes in the bush, one sees branches just begging for a leopard to complete them. More often than not, these “leopard branches” are disappointingly vacant. This perfect leopard branch is that of a torchwood tree, big, smooth and comfortable, under the southern shade of the canopy above. How could this beautiful torchwood not be a favourite for this massive male leopard of the Skukuza region? It’s like they were made for each other. This shot is certainly one of my favourites.
